Mike Sapnar

Chief Executive Officer

Mike Sapnar is Co-Founder and CEO of Proof. Mike also leads all insurance efforts across Stone Ridge. Prior to joining Stone Ridge in 2021, Mike served as the President and CEO of Transatlantic Reinsurance for nearly 10 years and held various positions domestically and internationally during his 26 years there. He holds a BA in Economics from the College of William & Mary and earned an MBA in Finance from New York University.

Kara Owens

President

Kara Owens is the President of Proof and Head of Business Development at Longtail Re. Kara joined Stone Ridge in 2022. Prior to joining the company, she was Executive Underwriting Officer for the Markel Corporation. Before joining Markel, Ms. Owens held positions at TransRe and Guy Carpenter, where she was the Global Head of Cyber as well and Senior Reinsurance Broker, respectively. Ms. Owens has over 19 years of experience in the reinsurance industry across various property and casualty product lines. Ms. Owens holds a BA in Risk Management & Insurance and Marketing from Temple University, where she graduated magna cum laude. She is also a board member for the Association of Professional Insurance Women. She holds her CPCU, RPLU, ARe and ARM designations.

Charlotte Goldman

Underwriting Manager

Charlotte Goldman is the Underwriting Manager at Proof, where she is responsible for leading insurance underwriting efforts across all lines of business. She has spent her career at the intersection of financial services and digital assets. Prior to joining Proof, she was Director of Credit at NYDIG, lending to bitcoin miners across North America. Before NYDIG, Charlotte was a Senior Associate at Silicon Valley Bank, focusing on credit underwriting and structuring financial products for the fintech and digital asset industries. Charlotte earned her B.S. in Environmental Economics and Policy from UC Berkeley.

Zach Kramer

Head of Operations

Zach Kramer is the Lead Cyber Underwriter at Proof Insurance Solutions, where he directs the underwriting strategy for cyber and technology errors and omissions (Tech E&O). Specializing in complex, hard-to-place risks, Zach focuses on emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, digital assets, gambling, robotics, and fintech. Prior to joining Proof, he spent over a decade in underwriting and analyst roles at EmergIn Risk and AIG, where he managed a book of business and spearheaded data automation projects to optimize operational efficiency. Zach holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Banking from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Alex Bontz

Head of Operations

Alex Bontz is the Head of Operations at Proof Insurance, where he is responsible for building and scaling the operational infrastructure supporting underwriting, policy issuance, data, and reporting. He focuses on designing efficient submission workflows, developing data pipelines and analytics, and implementing AI-driven tools to enhance underwriting and decision-making. Prior to joining Proof, Alex led operations and growth at an AI underwriting company, where he worked with carriers to deploy machine learning and generative AI solutions and streamline underwriting configuration and workflows. Earlier in his career, he held underwriting, product, and operations roles at Joyn Insurance, ProSight Specialty Insurance, and Blackboard Insurance, and began his career at AIG through a rotational program. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and Leadership from the University of Kansas.

Peter Cridand

Head of Claims

Peter Cridland is Head of Claims for Proof Insurance. Prior to joining Stone Ridge, he was with TransRe for more than 13 years, holding various roles in the Claims Department with responsibility for multiple lines of business, coverage evaluation, and dispute resolution. Before joining TransRe he was a litigator in New York City for 6 years. Peter received his B.A. in English and History from The University of Kansas and his J.D., with Environmental Certificate, from Pace University School of Law.
